Rate limits
Per-minute limits by plan, rate limit headers and the not-found cap.
Per minute
| Plan | Calls per minute |
|---|---|
| Starter | 30 |
| Growth | 60 |
| Business | 100 |
| Enterprise | 100 |
Going over returns 429 rate_limited with a Retry-After header (seconds). Failed calls cost no credits.
Monthly volume
Monthly volume is your plan's API credits (100, 300, 500 or 5,000 per 30 days). See Credits. There is no per-day limit for live keys.
Headers
| Header | Meaning |
|---|---|
RateLimit-Limit | The window's limit. Per minute for live keys; per IP per day for the sandbox. |
RateLimit-Remaining | Calls left in the current window. |
RateLimit-Reset | Seconds until the window resets. |
Retry-After | On 429 and 503: seconds to wait before retrying. |
X-Credits-Remaining | Live keys, successful calls only: API credits left. |
X-Request-Id | Unique ID of the request. Quote it to support. |
The RateLimit-* headers are absent on 401 and 403 responses: the key is checked before
any limit is applied, so there is no window to report. They are also absent on 400 invalid_request
(for example limit=11), although that call still counts towards your per-minute limit. If our rate-limit store is briefly
unavailable, live keys are still limited (per server) and responses carry only RateLimit-Limit;
RateLimit-Remaining and RateLimit-Reset return once it recovers.
Not-found cap
Each key may make 100 not-found lookups per day (UTC). A search that matches nothing counts as one
too. Beyond that you get 429 not_found_limit on every endpoint until the day rolls over. This stops
enumeration of identifiers and names; valid lookups are unaffected.
Sandbox
The sandbox key allows 10 calls per IP per day and 2,000 per day overall. Going over returns
429 sandbox_limit_reached. See Sandbox.
